when finished can be used as function serving trays and are even dishwasher safe. Some pieces get additional sandblasting treatments which give the glass a frosted look to the exposed areas. Stencils (Fig. 4) are used to protect the parts of the glass to remain smooth. The result, a unique hand-crafted functional piece of art that is perfect for entertaining or to stand on its own as a display piece in your home (Fig. 5).
the design is laid out (Fig. 2). This is where the true creativity happens. The design must take into account some degree of uncontrollability as it is impossible to predict exactly how the glass will react under the heat. The piece is fired in a kiln at temperatures ranging from 400' to 1,500' (Fig. 3) causing the glass to liquefy and fuse with the other melted glass around it. The results are beautifully blended colors and textures that

Appreciating the game-changer in life, a slight step to the left and out of the ordinary…
Looking for creative outlets both Nancy Rosato and Tonya Crowe-Chinuntdet came together having little in common, except for their daughters who had just started kindergarden. Tonya, a native having grown up in the mountains of western North Carolina attended Wake Forest and had a successful career as an OB/Gyn. Nancy grew up in Silver Lake, Ohio and attended the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, MA and dabbled in marketing and teaching water aerobics.
They found a common place in fused glass. The science of working with hot glass in a kiln. It is challenging and often frustrating, but wonderfully satisfying when everything goes right…and a learning lesson when it doesn’t. The play of light and colors that is achieved when combining different pieces of glass can lend itself to many different artistic expressions that can lead to a great variety of statements.
The two have been working together for 5 years out of their Mooresville, NC studio. They continue to hone their skills and push the boundaries of their own creativity as well as those of molten glass.
Nancy and her husband have three children who are each wonderfully unique but share many of the same passions as their parents. Nancy's creative interest began as a child in the Midwest when her mother encouraged her to pursue many of the same pastimes that she continues to enjoy today. In addition to her glass art, Nancy volunteers her time at her children's school and at local non-profits. She enjoys cooking, photography and gardening and is thrilled to share these joys with each of her children. Nancy is fortunate to live on a lake and finds much of her inspiration from the ever-changing views right outside the window.
Tonya and her husband have three children who as always headed in different directions, but always down fun and exciting paths. She continues to volunteer in the medical community. Her passions include horseback riding, photography and spending time outdoors with her family. Tonya also works with a theatre program providing props and frequently helping with costumes and sets. She is very often on the water fishing with her husband, John. Nature continues to be her biggest inspiration. She strives to find the harmony and balance in her art that exists in the natural world.
Nancy was born and raised in Ohio and developed a love for creative activities at an early age. Much of that passion was fueled by her mother, who always encouraged Nancy to pursue a wide variety of artistic endeavors, many of which she has continued to enjoy throughout her life.
Nancy and her husband, Craig, have three children and while each is wonderfully unique, they also share a number of common interests as well, including many that originated through the passions of their parents. Nancy loves to share the joys of some of her favorite pastimes such as cooking, photography and gardening with her children, and also enjoys volunteering at her children's school and several local non-profit organizations.
Nancy has the good fortune to live on a lake and draws much of her inspiration from the ever-changing views just outside her windows.
